Dr. Devesh Srivastava advises emerging and established organizations in biological, pharmaceutical, chemical and agricultural technologies on international patent strategy, patent opinions and counseling. He also counsels clients on licensing negotiations and agreements, due diligence associated with collaborations and asset acquisition, and patent prosecution.
Devesh provides clients with deep knowledge and insight from years in private practice, as in-house counsel and as an examiner at the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in the biotechnological and pharmaceutical fields.
Through the course of his career in patent law, Devesh has strategized and managed global patent portfolios for developmental and commercial products, and has collaborated with teams that successfully defended patents in Australia, Europe and the US. His skills further cover intellectual property-related agreements, university technology transfer and regulatory law, including FDA and USDA matters.
Devesh completed his Ph.D. in Physiological Optics and Vision Science with a focus on biochemistry and molecular biology of retinal diseases at the University of Houston and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at The Wilmer Eye Institute at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
He has published in peer-reviewed scientific and legal journals, among them Toxicology Letters, Biochemical Journal and the Food and Drug Law Journal. He has written a scientific book chapter, and has been an invited speaker at scientific conferences, the Association of University Technology Managers and at legal education conferences. He is an inventor on a number of US and foreign patents.
