Christopher M. Jedrey

Professional Biography

Christopher M. Jedrey is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP, based in the Firm’s Boston office.  He is partner-in-charge of its Boston Health Industry Advisory Practice Group, and national co-chairman of its Academic Medical Centers practice. 

Chris represents provider and HMO clients in mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures, sales of non-profit assets and operations to for-profit companies, and conversions from taxable to tax-exempt status.  He represents academic medical centers for a variety of matters, including strategic affiliation, clinical research and faculty practice plan matters.

Chris’ notable projects include: advising Caritas Christi, a six-hospital non-profit Catholic system, on the sale of its assets to private-equity funded Steward Health Care System, and advising the buyer on four subsequent hospital aquisitions; advising on the establishment and ongoing operations of Atrius Health, including its recent affiliation with Fallon Clinic to create a 1,000 physician/one million patient non-profit, physician-controlled system; advising Lenox Hill Hospital on its affiliation with North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System; advising Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary on its merger with Schepens Eye Research Institute; acting as special counsel to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts on its division into an insurance company and an HMO;advising Longy School of Music on its merger with Bard College; and providing corporate, regulatory and tax advice on the formation and ongoing operations of Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center, most recently with respect to its development of a network of community-based satellite clinics and other clinical partnerships.
