With a deep understanding of the Japanese language and culture, she supports Japanese corporate clients in their business in the U.S. She provides advice in a wide range of areas, including dispute resolution, corporate law, commercial transactions, unfair competition, and finance, both in and outside the U.S., and her knowledge and awareness are highly regarded by clients.
She provides legal advice in Japanese to clients in the energy, manufacturing, oil and gas, and pharmaceutical industries, including acting as a liaison between Barnes & Thornburg's lawyers in each division and Japanese corporate clients in areas including corporate law, labor, employment, and litigation.
Her experience includes advising on international jurisdiction, assisting a well-known foreign company (a computer parts manufacturer) in a product defect lawsuit, advising a US company on the acquisition of a business unit from a Japanese company, and advising on filings with the Japan Fair Trade Commission in relation to a merger between major energy companies.
She has a natural ability to build and maintain relationships among attorneys, professionals and clients, utilizing her legal, linguistic and intercultural skills.
Prior to joining the firm, she worked as an attorney at Anderson Mori & Co. for approximately four years, where she gained experience in mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, and litigation.
