Cate Baskin assists clients on government contracts and national security matters, such as export controls and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) compliance. Cate has significant experience helping small businesses navigate Small Business Administration (SBA) programs and consulting clients on Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplements (DFARS) compliance, among other federal regulatory regimes. Cate has also supported clients across a variety of different funding agreements and grants from the government, as well as coordinated national security-related due diligence efforts for large-scale M&A transactions.
Cate is passionate about working on pro bono matters, particularly representing incarcerated individuals in post-conviction proceedings, as well as advocacy in the environmental justice space.
While in law school, Cate externed at Reveal from The Center of Investigative Reporting, where she worked on government transparency issues, and the Corporate Accountability Lab, where she helped develop legal solutions to transnational supply chain and human rights concerns. She also led external communications for the Northwestern chapter of the American Constitution Society.
Prior to law school, Cate worked as a public relations and social impact strategist for corporations and non-profits.
