Caren is principal of Croland Consulting, a boutique philanthropic advisory group that guides families, athletes, and celebrities in building a culture of purpose and legacy.
Caren served as President of Crown Family Philanthropies in Chicago, and before that as Executive Director of the Oprah Winfrey Foundation and Oprah’s Angel Network, during the height of the Oprah Winfrey Show.
Caren supports philanthropic families through coaching, family meeting workshops, structuring governing boards that align with family goals, and strategic planning with a focus on learning and transformation.
Caren is an adjunct professor at the University of Chicago’s Booth School’s Private Wealth Management Program, and Indiana University’s Lilly Family School of Philanthropy. She’s a regular keynote speaker at wealth management and estate planning conferences and is engaged in sector-wide field building.
