Cara Barrick is Of Counsel in the firm’s San Francisco office. She has extensive experience representing businesses of all sizes in employment law compliance issues, including counseling in best practices, drafting employment policies, and coaching in hiring, disciplinary, and separation decisions. Cara has often been engaged to assist clients in auditing job duties to properly classify employees under the Fair Labor Standards Act. Her SPHR-CA and SHRM-SCP certifications reflect her commitment to the HR profession and competency in the legal issues that matter most to HR professionals.
An experienced litigator, Cara defends lawsuits and administrative claims with a practical and strategic approach. Cara has represented clients in matters pending before state trial and appellate courts; federal district courts; and various federal, state, and local agencies.
Cara is admitted to practice in both California and Florida. She spent the first decade of her career as a trial attorney in Florida, first with a large insurance defense firm, then with a boutique firm. In 2010 and again in 2011, she was selected for inclusion in Florida Super Lawyers Rising Stars. Cara earned both her law degree and her undergraduate degree from the University of Florida. In between, she was awarded a Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarship and attended the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia.
