Amir E. El-Aswad

Professional Biography

Amir El-Aswad is a member of the firm’s Business Litigation & Dispute Resolution and Labor & Employment Practices.

Amir represents businesses and employers in state and federal courts and arbitral proceedings in a wide array of commercial litigation and employment matters. He has gained significant experience litigating disputes involving restrictive covenants and non-compete agreements, trade secret misappropriation, trademark infringement, cyber fraud, business torts, commercial real estate, and breach of contract and warranty claims. Amir is well versed in brief and motion writing, coordinating e-discovery for multimillion-dollar cases, negotiating settlements, and drafting dispute resolution agreements.

Before joining Foley, Amir clerked for the Hon. David M. Lawson of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. During law school, Amir worked as a summer associate in Foley’s Chicago office and served as a student advocate for the Supreme Court and Appellate Clinic at the University of Chicago Law School, where he helped draft various sections of merits and amicus briefs before the U.S. Supreme Court. Amir also gained experience with criminal and constitutional matters by serving as a judicial intern for the Hon. David McKeague of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the Research Division of the Michigan Court of Appeals.
