Alyssa Freeman

Professional Biography

Alyssa concentrates her practice in civil defense litigation, including medical malpractice, toxic torts, workers' compensation, and civil rights litigation. Alyssa began her career at Heyl Royster in 2014 as a summer associate for the firm's Rockford office. 

Alyssa received her J.D., summa cum laude, from the Northern Illinois University College of Law in 2015. During law school, Alyssa gained valuable insight into the judicial system while serving as a judicial extern for Justice Ann Jorgensen of the Second District of Illinois and for the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit. She also was on Law Review and served on the board as the Symposium Editor. Alyssa served as the Student Bar Association President and a two-year member of the Jessup International Moot Court team. While in school, she  worked as a graduate assistant for the NIU College of Business in its Legal Environment & Business classes. Alyssa also gained hands-on experience by completing a legal externship with the Illinois Appellate Defender.
