Alexandra E. Skarka

Professional Biography

Alexandra Skarka handles general civil litigation, including construction defect and accident, premises liability, products liability, employment and professional liability cases. To ensure her success in defending clients involved in construction-related litigation, Alexandra completed the OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety and Health course. Alexandra has obtained favorable outcomes for her clients at all stages of litigation in state and federal court in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York.

In addition, Alexandra has a breadth of real estate E&O defense experience managing and resolving claims on behalf of large national property management and brokerage firms as well as litigating disputes throughout the United States on behalf of real estate brokers, appraisers, title abstractors, home inspectors, insurance brokers, managing agents and broker-dealers. In addition to efficiently managing claims, she assists our real estate professionals in licensing and regulatory matters as well as navigating complex contractual issues, leases and agency agreements; performing due diligence related to acquisitions; helping to ensure fair housing and other applicable statutory and/or local code and regulatory compliance. Alexandra’s experience in the insurance and real estate industries results in spot-on analysis of liability and exposure and effective resolution strategies.

In addition to her legal practice, Alexandra is an active leader in her office’s pro bono efforts, organizing volunteer and community outreach events for all members of the Philadelphia office. Alexandra also has the honor of serving as her office’s WAVE (Women Attorneys Valued & Empowered) representative, holding meetings and events to support and foster the professional growth of women attorneys at the firm.

Prior to joining Wilson Elser, Alexandra was an associate attorney at a well-known Philadelphia litigation defense firm specializing in general litigation matters. Alexandra also is a former associate of a defense firm representing business franchise owners involved in national multidistrict employment litigation. After graduating from law school, she served as a law clerk for a large Philadelphia law firm representing plaintiffs in mass tort litigation.

While in law school, Alexandra served as an Associate Editor of the Villanova Law Review and acted as a teaching assistant for the 1L Legal Writing program. She also is a recipient of the Dorothy Day Award, recognizing outstanding achievement in pro bono service for her work as a Certified Legal Intern in the Farmworker Legal Aid Clinic.
