With a strong focus on data privacy and security, Alexander Misakian provides counsel to companies navigating the complex and evolving landscape of state, federal, and international privacy laws and regulations.
Alex’s practice includes advising clients on all aspects of compliance with state, federal, and international data privacy and security laws, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), and other US State Comprehensive Privacy Laws. In his advisory role, Alex works closely with clients to develop robust cybersecurity frameworks, create compliant privacy policies, and establish comprehensive incident response plans. He is a member of the firm’s Technology Transactions, Cybersecurity, and Privacy Practice Group.
Furthermore, Alex has extensive experience in assisting clients in preparing for and effectively responding to data security breaches. He supports clients from the early stages of investigations to identifying and ensuring compliance with legal notification obligations to affected individuals, as well as state and federal government regulators. Alex has successfully handled a wide range of incidents, including system-wide malware attacks, phishing schemes, ransomware infections, lost or stolen devices, insider misconduct, and misdirected communications spanning across various industries, including financial services, health care, higher education, hospitality, insurance, manufacturing, and retail.
