For nearly 30 years, Al has worked directly with and supported lawyers and law firms, with a dedicated focus on practice group development, engaging in collaborative pitch efforts and regularly assisting with pursuits of government and private sector contracting, procurement, and lobbying opportunities. Some of the key sectors where he has experience include architecture, aviation, communications systems, construction energy, engineering, , environmental, infrastructure, insurance, public safety, real estate development, seaports, and transportation. He also has been engaged in projects involving buildings and facilities, emerging and innovative technologies for livable communities and smart and connected cities.
Al has offered targeted business and geopolitical advice to help clients identify solutions for complex and unique challenges throughout his three-decade long career. He also helped develop a national, federal and state receivership and related services network, including advocacy for policy relative to the value and need of overseers, such as monitors.
It is important to Al to leverage all the resources available to best strategize the desired outcome for clients, working closely with the firm’s attorneys.
Al frequently works out of Washington, D.C., and South Florida, where he has deep ties, having worked with a number of local, state and federal officials, including in Florida.
Before coming to the firm, Al started and grew several successful consulting businesses, providing government and public relations, business strategy, communications and professional services support – all done in the context of supporting lawyers or law firms, as they seek to provide robust representation to accomplish their missions.
Al served Miami-Dade County government in numerous official capacities, starting in 1992, including as a senior official on the toll roads authority and as board member and chair of the regions local land-use planning agency. Additionally, Al was a member of a quasi-judicial law enforcement board, serving as its chairman, and regularly participates in government agency transition teams and review bodies, including advising local, state and federal officials such as governors, senators, insurance commissioners, and others, on the restructuring of departments and agencies, such as at the Florida Department of Transportation, and others.
Al often finds himself traveling the country assisting various specialized teams on challenging matters, and has, over the years, enjoyed presenting and speaking on important public policy topics such as efficient transportation, critical infrastructure, scarcity of essential clean water and the use of innovative solutions in building and maintaining sustainable and resilient communities. He also finds himself immersed in observing how the intersection between private equity, venture capital, founders and inventors brings ideas to life.
