On August 2, 2025, the EU AI Act’s rules on general-purpose AI models became applicable. Under the new rules, providers of general-purpose AI models will be subject to additional requirements covering transparency and copyright compliance as established under Article 53 of the AI Act. In addition, providers of general-purpose AI models with systemic risk will be subject to extensive safety and security requirements as established under Article 55 of the AI Act.
Providers may adhere to the General-Purpose AI Code of Practice to achieve compliance in a more streamlined manner and with additional legal certainty regarding the compliance solutions adopted.
