ROCKET SUED AGAIN FOR MARKETING CALLS: Mortgage Giant Faces Claims It Called Woman 27 Times After She Asked it to Stop
Wednesday, November 15, 2023

Mortgage giant Rocket Mortgage is facing another lawsuit related to its telemarketing activity.

It has faced suits alleging it made illegal robocalls in the past. This time Rocket is claimed to have bombarded a consumer–Kellie Deits–with unwanted calls for over a week after it was asked to stop calling.

The key allegations are:

Ignoring her request not to be contacted, Defendant called Plaintiff at least 27
more times over the next 10 days. These subsequent calls came from the same telephone number (844-972-1985) as the first call she received during which she instructed the caller to not call again.

Interesting, no?

The suit seeks unspecified damages on behalf of “hundreds” of other consumers who were allegedly subjected to the same treatment.

The class definition is:

All residential telephone subscribers who received more than one
telemarketing call within a 12-month period from Rocket
Mortgage (or another person or entity calling on its behalf) within
five years after requesting Rocket Mortgage not call them.

We’ll keep an eye on this new suit and see where it goes.

Needless to say, Rocket is NOT a member of Responsible Enterprises Against Consumer Harassment (R.E.A.C.H.) and it will be interesting to see how long Rocket can last on its own without accepting the R.E.A.C.H. standards to protect consumers from these sorts of alleged abuses.
