Global Entry Program Expanded to UK Citizens
Friday, November 6, 2015

On November 3, 2015 U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and UK Border Force officials announced the expansion of the Global Entry program to UK citizens.  The announcement was made at the World Travel Market in London by CBP Commissioner Gil Kerlikowske, along with U.S. Ambassador to the UK Matthew Barzun and Director General Sir Charles Montgomery of the Border Force.

As a result of the announcement, beginning on December 3, UK citizens will be eligible to register for Global Entry.  Global Entry, administered by CBP, provides participating travelers with a streamlined screening process at 46 U.S. airports, and at 13 preclearance locations outside of the United States.  UK citizens who participate in Global Entry will also be able to use the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Pre Check program.  The announcement of Global Entry expansion to the UK complements the UK’s Registered Traveller program, which provides participants with streamlined entry into the UK.  The November 3 announcement notes that of 30,000 approved Registered Traveller participants, 60 percent are from the U.S.
