As a result of the passage of the DHS FOIA Efficiency Act, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has launched a new mobile application to help reduce the agency’s backlog of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. The eFOIA app provides a streamlined FOIA request process allowing users to submit FOIA requests to any DHS agency including U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, Customs and Border Protection, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Users will now be able to request immigration-related documents such as entry and exit reports and detention and deportation reports via the app in an effort modernize the FOIA process and improve customer experience.
In addition, the eFOIA app allows users to check the status of their FOIA requests, access FOIA content online, receive updates, find recently published documents, and find changes to events.
