CIPL Publishes Key Takeaways from Age Assurance Workshops and Calls for Participation in Working Groups
Wednesday, June 12, 2024

On March 26 and 27, 2024, the Centre for Information Policy Leadership (“CIPL”) at Hunton Andrews Kurth, in partnership with WeProtect Global Alliance, held a series of interactive workshops on digital age assurance as part of its Children’s Privacy Project. Practitioners, regulators and policymakers on privacy, safety and children’s rights came together to discuss the policy state-of-play, explore thematic issues from different perspectives, and to advance a holistic and principles-based approach to age assurance. Together, they release a summary of the key takeaways.

As a next step, CIPL and WeProtect Global Alliance are creating working groups on the following topics:

  • Law and regulation;
  • Risk assessments;
  • Regional and global perspectives; and
  • Future mapping.

The working groups will meet virtually and each will produce a short paper, or other relevant output, setting out their discussions and learnings.

In the past, CIPL has published a policy paper outlining the policy issues and regulatory and compliance challenges that organizations and data protection authorities face globally when addressing children’s online data privacy.
