30 Projects Announced to Support Michigan Specialty Crop Growers
Wednesday, December 17, 2014

U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow recently announced $1.9 million in special block grants for the benefit of Michigan farmers. These funds stem from the federal Farm Bill, which Stabenow co-authored, and will be used to fund some 30 specialty crop projects located throughout the state.

The $1.9 million in grants for specialty crops represents a roughly $600,000 increase from last year. According to a report issued by Stabenow's office, this increase is well deserved: Michigan's agricultural diversity is second only to California's.

Those reaping the benefits of the projects and funding range from cherry and asparagus growers to potato and Christmas tree farmers. A full list of project recipients and funding can be found here.
