NEW YORK, NY / ACCESS Newswire / April 17, 2025 / Bigfork Valley Hospital, recently disclosed that it suffered a data breach that compromised the sensitive personal and protected health data of individuals. This data breach has led to concerns over the security of sensitive personal and protected health information entrusted to Bigfork Valley.

WHAT'S THIS ABOUT?

On November 26, 2024, Bigfork Valley Hospital identified suspicious activity associated with one of its email accounts. Upon detection, Bigfork Valley launched an investigation with the assistance of third-party cyber security experts to determine the nature and scope of the incident. The investigation determined that an unauthorized third party gained access to certain sensitive personal and protected health information on November 4, 2024. Bigfork Valley Hospital conducted a comprehensive review of the impacted data to determine what information was compromised and identified affected individuals.

Upon information and belief, the following types of sensitive personaland protected healthinformation may have been compromised: name, Social Security number, date of birth, phone number, driver's license or state identification number, financial account number, medical information (e.g., patient account number, diagnosis, treatment, procedure information, cost of treatment, medical history or allergies, prescription drug information, lab test results or images, date of admission or treatment, treatment location, healthcare provider name), health insurance member number, and medicare or medicaid number. On March 25, 2025, Bigfork Valley filed a notice with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights and began sending out notice letters to impacted individuals. Compensation may be available for those individuals who received notice that their personal information was compromised.
