Anjali Das (Partner-Chicago, IL) and Jana Slavina Farmer (Partner-White Plains, NY) will present a two-part update on “U.S. Data Privacy & Cybersecurity Law” on January 21, 2025, another in the firm’s Cyber Tuesdays: Wilson Elser Forum webinar series. This panel will provide companies, insurance carriers, brokers, and claims adjusters with an in-depth understanding of the evolving U.S. regulatory landscape that creates heightened liability exposure for organizations that fail to comply with increasingly stringent laws. Part I will address new and expansive data breach notification laws and reporting obligations in the aftermath of a cyber-attack. These laws impact a variety of industry sectors including health care, financial institutions, insurance and financial services, and public companies. Part II of the discussion will focus on the growing number of state privacy consumer laws and their expanding scope, including new requirements for nonprofits, protection of children’s data, and protection of consumer health information. The panel also will address federal data privacy proposals and enforcement trends. The program will conclude with a brief Q&A session.
