Sam Cohen is an associate in the Entertainment, Technology, and Advertising Practice in the firm's New York office.

Areas of Practice

Sam provides strategic transactional support to clients across the entertainment, technology, and advertising industries in connection with a variety of complex commercial transactions, partnerships, and joint ventures. He advises clients on, and drafts and negotiates documentation related to the production, exploitation, and protection of music, audiovisual content, interactive entertainment, software, and various emerging technologies. In addition, Sam counsels companies of all sizes, artists, influencers, entrepreneurs, and service providers on a wide range of legal and policy issues arising out of the convergence of technology and commerce including intellectual property (trademark and copyright), licensing, social media marketing, cybersecurity, and compliance with regulations such as CAN-SPAM, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and the Federal Trade Commission guidelines for advertising and marketing to consumers. Drawing on his experience as in-house counsel to several multinational corporations and early stage technology start-ups, Sam has honed a practical and cost effective approach to client representation.

Sam was previously an associate director in the Business & Legal Affairs department at Sony Music, where he focused on technology transactions, artist promotions, social media and influencer marketing, content licensing, and copyright and trademark issues.
