Professional Biography

Ronald Tran is Of Counsel in the San Francisco, California, office of Jackson Lewis. P.C. With over a decade of legal experience as a seasoned litigator and trial lawyer, Ron has tried over 50 jury and court trials in both state and federal courts. The source of Ron's success in litigation lies in his keen ability to communicate with, captivate, and capture the trust of his intended audience. Whether Ron is arguing before a judge, jury, arbitrator, or even opposing counsel, employers and their leaders rely on Ron to defend them against claims involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, failure to accommodate, whistleblower activity, wrongful termination, unfair competition, and wage and hour disputes.

Although Ron regularly advocates on behalf of businesses that wind up in court, he is equally passionate about helping employers stay out of court. He does so through his preventative advice and counsel practice. Ron assists employers in their day-to-day management of their employees, including investigation of workplace complaints, training and development, discipline and termination, and severance negotiations. Above all else, Ron appreciates the importance, as both legal counsel and business partner, of gaining a deep understanding of his clients' business, goals, and tolerance for risk.

Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, Ron was a partner at a prominent civil litigation defense firm in California, where he represented insurance companies, businesses, public entities, and individuals against claims involving catastrophic injury, wrongful death, and commercial torts. Ron regularly defended and settled cases with exposures in the seven and eight figures. Before entering private practice, Ron served as a criminal prosecutor. It was during this time that he discovered his true knack inside the courtroom.

While in law school, Ron was a published author and served on the Board of Editors of the U.S.F. Law Review. He was also an Associate Literary Editor for the Maritime Law Journal. Ron was part of USF’s mock trial team and competed in the ABA Section of Labor and Employment Law Trial Advocacy Competition. He rounded out his law school experience with judicial externships in both the state and federal courts.
