Nicholas P. Zalany focuses his practice on general and complex commercial litigation matters, including in the areas of commercial contract disputes, business torts and insurance coverage disputes. Nick also provides legal counsel to insurance companies, trade associations and healthcare systems in matters involving insurance law and regulatory compliance.
Prior to joining the firm, Nick worked in both the private and public sectors, including as an associate in the Columbus office of a national boutique litigation firm and as a staff attorney for two Ohio state court judges. Before becoming a lawyer, Nick worked overseas as a law clerk at a Paris law firm and as an intern at the US Consulate in Budapest, and he has leveraged this experience and his foreign language skills for the benefit of various firm clients.
Nick has an active pro bono practice, as he represents clients in a variety of the Columbus Legal Aid Society’s programs, including the VRC Consumer Project, Tenant Advocacy Project and Wills Clinic. He is also active as a volunteer judge for the Moritz College of Law moot court and lawyering skills program, and serves as Chapter Leader for the Columbus Chapter of the Case Western Reserve University Alumni Association. Nick is the author of “The European Union Constitution and its Effects on Federalism in the EU,” published in the Ohio State Law Journal in 2005.
