Professional Biography

Megan Harmon joined Strassburger McKenna Gutnick & Gefsky in 2023.

Ms. Harmon counsels businesses of all sizes on their operations and through transformative times, whether it is the growth-stage, succession planning, or exit strategies. Ms. Harmon’s practice has an emphasis on heavily regulated industries such as environmental services, manufacturing, alternative energy, and engineering. She represents family businesses, start-ups, and both publicly and privately held entities.

Ms. Harmon joined SMGG from Schnader, where she was a partner, member of the executive committee, and co-chair of two practice groups. She has been involved in hundreds of purchase and sale transactions, both equity and asset, and involving sales or purchases of divisions, subsidiaries, and select operational assets.

Her practice includes representing investors including venture capital funds, angel investors, private equity, and strategic buyers in a variety of transactions. She has experience in acquiring and selling industrial and commercial operations and real estate and has worked on matters involving permitted facilities, sustainability, and environmentally impacted properties, as well as waste-to-energy and methane-to-energy projects. Ms. Harmon’s practice also includes representing organizations in the transportation, consulting, and business services industries.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Harmon served as deputy general counsel for an environmental services company, where she was responsible for operations, mergers, acquisitions, integration, and divestitures, as well as oversight of outside counsel.

Outside of the office, Ms. Harmon has been involved in the Churchill Planning Commission for over 25 years and is currently Chairperson of the Commission. She is active in the Fort Armstrong Horsemen’s Association Foundation that supports operations at the Crooked Creek Horse Park, a park in Armstrong County, PA dedicated to promoting equine education through competition, recreation, and tourism. Ms. Harmon is also active with her local school district, raising scholarship funds for post high school education with the Mitchell P. Harmon Memorial Scholarship Foundation.

In her free time Megan enjoys attending horse competitions with her grown daughter and their horses, playing golf, and hanging with her dog Ellie.
