Maika Kawaguchi’s practice is focused on transactional, corporate and governance matters for major Japanese institutional clients, including the largest department store holding company and operator in Japan, and Japan’s largest leasing company and highly diversified financial conglomerate.
She specializes in domestic and international transactions including M&A, corporate governance, corporate restructuring and reorganizations, joint ventures, labor and employment, litigation and other dispute resolution, together with expertise in international trade.
She began her legal career at a prominent Tokyo-based law firm in 2006 and joined Mamiya Law Offices in 2008. She joined Squire Patton Boggs in 2014.
She completed her LL.M. at the University of Michigan Law School in 2017 and recently returned to the Tokyo office after a one year assignment in the Los Angeles office of Squire Patton Boggs.
