Kya Henley is an associate in the firm’s White Collar Defense and Investigations and Corporate & Finance Services Litigation and Regulation Practices, and was named a Rising Star in White Collar Defense by Super Lawyers and a Pathfinder by the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity. She represents companies and individuals in a range of government and internal investigations, civil litigation, white collar criminal defense matters, regulatory inquiries, compliance issues, crisis management, congressional investigations, and complex business litigation.
Kya has represented clients in a variety of industries, including technology, financial and consulting, defense contractors, healthcare, and religion. She regularly represents clients in criminal and civil enforcement matters before the United States Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission, state attorneys general offices, and other federal agencies. Kya also has experience as a business litigator, representing clients in high-stakes civil litigation matters in federal and state courts.
Prior to joining Cadwalader, Kya was an associate at Bradley, Arant, Boult & Cummings as an associate in that firm’s Government Enforcement and Investigations and Cybersecurity and Privacy practice groups. Kya also served as a trial attorney public defender in the metropolitan Baltimore area immediately after law school.
Kya earned her J.D. from The University of Michigan Law School, where she was a Graduate Student Instructor in the College of Letters and Sciences, Vice Chair of the Black Student Association, and was a recipient of the Dores McRee Award for her dedication to the law school community. She gained hands-on experience representing clients as an advanced student attorney in the Juvenile Justice and Human Trafficking clinics. Kya earned her B.A. in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland, where she was a captain on the award-winning Mock Trial Team. She is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and the State of Maryland.
