Joe Meckes helps his clients resolve the most complex business and technology disputes both in and out of court. Joe has particular expertise in intellectual property (IP) litigation, antitrust, international commercial dispute resolution and class action defense. Joe has been lead counsel in numerous state and federal courts and administrative bodies throughout the US in all aspects of civil litigation as well as in international and US-based arbitrations. Joe is the exclusive recipient of the 2015 Client Choice Award from the International Law Office (ILO) for the “Arbitration” category in California. Joe’s experience spans a wide variety of industries including pharmaceuticals, semiconductor packaging and fabrication, automotive, fiber optics, software, heavy industries, mining and agriculture. Joe is a member of our technology steering committees and has chaired the firm’s Knowledge Management core group. He frequently speaks and writes about civil procedure, knowledge management, electronic discovery and emerging intellectual property issues.
Joe has successfully prosecuted and defended numerous commercial disputes, patent, copyright and trademark cases, allegations of trade secret theft and high technology disputes from inception through trial in state and federal courts, in arbitral tribunals and before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. Joe routinely advises clients on dispute avoidance in the context of sales, licensing, confidentiality and other commercial transactions.
In the late 1980s, Joe served as a US Army scout in the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment in Fulda, Germany and the Second Infantry Division in Camp Casey, Korea.
