Joo Kim is a special counsel in Cadwalader's Capital Markets Group. Joo concentrates her practice in the areas of securitizations and structured finance. Joo has represented large financial institutions and companies in a wide variety of securitizations and financing transactions involving commercial and residential mortgage loans, trade receivables, equipment leases, franchise receivables, credit card receivables, aircraft and aircraft operating leases and whole company securitizations. In particular, Joo regularly represents issuers, underwriters and mortgage loan sellers and purchasers in connection with the commercial mortgage backed securitization transactions, the sale and purchase of whole mortgage loans and the creation, sale and purchase of pari passu, junior and senior interests in mortgage loans.
Joo has recently advised a number of financial institutions on the structuring of the securitizations of nonperforming commercial mortgage loans. Her recent experience also includes representing the issuers and the underwriters in complex securitizations involving loans secured by all of the assets of hospitality companies, the 7 World Trade Center and 3 World Trade Center securitizations involving tranches of taxable CMBS debt and tranches of tax-exempt bonds and the securitization of 31 aircraft and aircraft operating leases.
