Jeremy Stephenson provides counseling and litigation services to management clients in employment matters, via corporate direct defense and employment practices liability insurance (EPLI) panel assignments. He has successfully defended employers against claims of discrimination, wrongful termination of employment, breach of contract, and wage-and-hour cases before the state and federal courts and administrative agencies in North Carolina.
Jeremy advises employers on the avoidance of employee claims, reviews and drafts employment contracts and policies, and develops and conducts employee training programs. He regularly publishes articles and is invited to speak on employment law topics to human resources audiences.
In addition, Jeremy has extensive experience providing insurance coverage counseling and litigation services on EPLI, directors and officers (D&O), general liability (GL), errors and omissions (E&O), and other lines of coverage, including declaratory judgment and bad faith litigation and appeals.
Jeremy also has a breadth of real estate E&O defense experience managing and resolving claims on behalf of large national property management and brokerage firms as well as litigating disputes throughout the United States on behalf of real estate brokers, appraisers, title abstractors, home inspectors, insurance brokers, managing agents and broker-dealers. In addition to efficiently managing claims, he assists our real estate professionals in licensing and regulatory matters as well as navigating complex contractual issues, leases and agency agreements; performing due diligence related to acquisitions; helping to ensure fair housing and other applicable statutory and/or local code and regulatory compliance. Jeremy’s experience in the insurance and real estate industries results in spot-on analysis of liability and exposure and effective resolution strategies.
Jeremy litigates in the state and federal courts of North Carolina in cases pertaining to professional liability, products liability and other areas of civil liability.
Jeremy provides pro bono services to nonprofits, including Telra Institute, a local public nonprofit charter school.
