Jennifer Stocker is a partner in the Grand Rapids, Michigan, office of Barnes & Thornburg LLP and a member of the firm’s Labor & Employment Law Department.
Ms. Stocker’s labor and employment practice is national in scope. Her practice emphasis is in the defense of employment litigation filed against employers in state, federal and appellate courts, as well as the defense of charges before state and federal administrative agencies. Her litigation experience includes the defense of FLSA claims, including workplace class actions, FMLA, ADA, ADEA, and Title VII claims, as well as state law counterpart claims for discrimination, harassment and retaliation. She provides pre-litigation counseling and avoidance advice, alternative dispute resolution, investigation, trial and appellate services. She also has broad experience navigating employers through the reduction in force process, including global and complex undertakings.
Ms. Stocker also provides advice and counsel covering all aspects of human resource management including training, employment practice audits and proactive strategies to assure legal compliance. She advises clients in the global food production, retail and professional service industries and has served as an on-site legal and affirmative action consultant. Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, Ms. Stocker was a member of the Labor and Employment Practice Group at Varnum, Riddering, Schmidt & Howlett in Grand Rapids. She was also chair of that firm’s Diversity Team.
