Hugh Sokolski is an associate in the firm’s Hartford, Connecticut, office, where he is a member of the firm’s Labor Relations, Litigation, and Corporate Diversity Counseling practice groups. Hugh brings a meticulous and thoughtful approach to every legal matter, valuing the unique nature of each case. In the employment law realm, Hugh provides counsel and defense to a diverse range of clients, including non-profit organizations, small businesses, corporations, and educational institutions. Hugh litigates employment disputes of all types in various forums including federal and state courts, as well as administrative agencies such as the EEOC and the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities. Hugh’s litigation experience includes defending allegations of discrimination, whistleblower retaliation, wrongful termination, failure to accommodate, and harassment.
In addition to employment-related litigation, Hugh also focuses his practice on traditional labor law. He has experience in collective bargaining negotiations, labor restructuring, contract administration, labor arbitrations, and unfair labor practice proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board. He has worked on these matters in various industries, including education, construction, transportation, and aerospace.
Hugh committed to the legal profession at age 17, when he enrolled in the innovative 3+3 accelerated BA/JD program at Quinnipiac University School of Law. During his time in law school, Hugh served as Student Bar Association President and was on the executive boards of both the Mock Trial Society and Moot Court Society. As an active member of the LGBTQIA+ community and a leader of his law school’s affiliated group for most of his academic journey, Hugh deeply appreciates the significance of diversity in the workplace. His experiences have shaped his understanding and advocacy for inclusivity and representation in the professional sphere.
