Gunnar has experience assessing client records for documentation, coding and supervision compliance under Medicare and Medicaid rules. In addition to assisting with internal and external compliance evaluations and investigations, he helps healthcare entities successfully navigate the medical billing and managed care dispute processes. Gunnar also assists a wide variety of clients through drafting compliance plans, provider policies, and professional service agreements that conform with accreditation standards, CMS regulations, and other applicable legal standards.
Using his attention to detail and knowledge of the healthcare landscape, Gunnar facilitates healthcare transactions through regulatory diligence and contract drafting.
Notably, Gunnar has distinguished himself as a Certified Medical Compliance Officer (CMCO) and is also a Certified Professional Coder (CPC).
A frequent speaker, Gunnar has presented to medical organizations on topics including OIG compliance, DOJ enforcement updates, and Medicare telehealth and telecommunications technology.
As a student at William & Mary Law School, Gunnar participated in the Lewis B. Puller, Jr. Veterans Benefits Clinic where he represented veterans in coverage disputes with the Veterans Affairs department. Gunnar was also selected to be a Student Admissions Ambassador, and he held various positions in other student organizations.
