Professional Biography

Gary is the CEO of The National Law Review. Gary is a serial entrepreneur who has founded many successful legal-tech, legal services, and online lending businesses. 

Before joining The National Law Review, Gary served as Chairman and CEO of Raiseworks, an online small business lender. Gary also served as the CEO of American Consumer Lending (ACL), an affiliate of Prospect Capital Corp (NYSE: PSEC), one of the largest purchasers of consumer and small business loans originated by such leading financial institutions as Lending Club, Prosper, and OnDeck. ACL’s aggregate loan portfolio exceeded $500 million. During Gary’s tenure, ACL utilized substantial credit facilities to support its growth, including financing from affiliates of Capital One and Morgan Stanley.

From 1993-2023, Gary built and ran a number of legal-tech and legal services businesses. Several of the brands and companies he was associated with during that time were Ledgers USA, Legal Recovery Fund, Signal Funding, Pegasus, Disability Corner, and Viaticus. Investors and lenders to these businesses included some of the largest financial institutions in the world, such as CNA Insurance, Deutsche Bank, Fifth Third Bank, Fortress Investments, Highbridge Investments, and HIG Capital.

Gary holds a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University

Gary has testified on matters related to estate planning, litigation, and insurance before more than 30 state legislatures, and the US House of Representatives Committee on Ways and Means. 

During his time with Viaticus, Gary received Trust & Estates magazine’s EPIC Award for the most innovative insurance product of the year.

In 1999, Gary was inducted into the Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame.
