Gabriel A. Mendoza is an associate in the Los Angeles, California, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. His practice focuses on representing employers in workplace law matters, including preventive advice and counseling. Gabriel has a depth of law and motion practice, including discovery disputes and motions to compel arbitration. Gabriel also has extensive complex litigation experience as well as trial experience.
Gabriel defends employers against wage and hour disputes, including Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) and class action matters, and claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, employee misclassifications, independent contractor disputes, meal and rest breaks, off-the-clock work, failure-to-pay, and wrongful termination in single and multi-plaintiff/defendant matters. Gabriel vigorously litigates matters brought under the Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), the California Family Rights Act (CFRA), the California Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA), the Department of Labor, and the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).
Gabriel also reviews and advises on separation agreements, employee handbooks, meal and rest period policies and waivers, and drafts notices of employee privacy rights and Frequently Asked Questions memorandums for PAGA and class action matters. Gabriel advises clients on disciplinary actions and investigations, conducts employment practices reviews, and conducts wage and hour exposure analyses and calculations.
While at USC Gould School of Law, Gabriel received the USC Law Merit Scholarship and was a Senior Editor on the Southern California Interdisciplinary Law Journal, where he was also published. Gabriel was also involved with the Student Bar Associate, a member of USC’s Latino Law Student Association, and was Vice-Chair of the Mexican American Bar Association for USC.
