Drawing from his background in leadership positions with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Dave Ault advises health care providers and payers on the regulatory, compliance and litigation aspects of health insurance. A former government litigator and authority on alternative payment models under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Dave brings an insider’s understanding to the regulatory challenges and opportunities in the ever-changing health insurance space.
His practice focuses on regulatory and compliance issues relating to Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, with significant experience in value-based care arrangements. Dave also provides counsel on complex issues related to pharmaceutical manufacturer government price calculation and reporting practices.
Government Experience
Dave joined the firm after an eight-year tenure with the HHS, where he served as a litigator on Medicare and Affordable Care Act (ACA) matters and, later, as director of the Division of Financial Risk within the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (a subset of the Centers of Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)). He understands the analytical underpinnings of government health insurance models and regulations, the inner workings of the regulatory bodies who develop these systems, and the compliance challenges and litigation risks that health insurance stakeholders face, day in, day out.
Personal Interests
In his free time, Dave enjoys playing tennis and spending time outdoors with his family.
