Christopher T. Karounos, Esq., is a senior trial attorney with Brandon J. Broderick LLC, a law firm devoted to helping injured individuals and their families obtain fair and just compensation to help them move forward after sustaining injuries caused by another’s negligence.
Chris has handled cases arising from assaults; motor vehicle crashes; all manner of slip, trip, or fall injuries; watercraft collisions; trucking incidents; construction defects; motorcycle accidents; and worksite injuries. He is among the less than 3% of attorneys certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Civil Trial Attorney.
His combined personal injury jury verdicts and settlement packages have resulted in over $100 million to his clients. His many honors include being named a New Jersey Super Lawyer by Super Lawyers, part of Thomson Reuters; selected as a Leader in Law by NJBIZ Magazine; and voted as a Bergen County Top Lawyer in both Personal Injury and Civil Litigation by Bergen Magazine.
For many years, Chris has also successfully handled commercial litigation and trial matters. Moreover, he is a successful appellate advocate, having won several important appeals for both his personal injury and commercial litigation clients over the years.
Chris brings scientific know-how to his work. He received a Bachelor’s degree in biology from Rutgers, and spent nearly 20 years as a volunteer EMT-D (defibrillation) where he also obtained special training in Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS). Having treated and transported many hundreds of injured patients, he understands the trauma scenes and situations that clients endure when injured. He uses that understanding, in concert with his trial skills, to fight vigorously for his clients’ rights and advocate for them against insurance defense companies -- including, when necessary, before a judge and jury.
Upon graduating from Rutgers Law-Newark, Chris clerked for the Hon. Menelaos W. Toskos, J.S.C. in the Bergen County Superior Court. He then practiced as a litigation associate at two of New Jersey’s premiere law firms, Lowenstein Sandler, PC, and Archer & Greiner PC before opening his own practice in 2013 focusing on Personal Injury and Civil Litigation.
He has served as a Barrister for the Bergen County Pashman Civil Inns of Court and is trained to serve as an Arbitrator for the New Jersey Superior Court. A former Adjunct Professor of Law at Rutgers University Law School-Newark for advanced trial presentation, he was head coach of the school’s National Mock Trial team as well.
Chris is the past President of the Hellenic American Bar Association and a current member of the New Jersey Association for Justice; American Association for Justice; and Bergen County Bar Association.
