Professional Biography

Christian advises sponsors, lenders, contractors and suppliers in project development, finance and asset acquisition and disposition transactions across the energy, oil and gas, infrastructure and mining and metals sectors.

With more than 25 years of experience in the US, Latin America and Africa, Christian represents sponsors, lenders, suppliers and offtakers in all aspects of the development, acquisition, financing and divestiture of energy, oil and gas, infrastructure and mining projects, with a particular focus on energy transition and cross-border transactions.

Christian’s primary focus is on the contracts related to the business of each individual project. Given his deep understanding of the challenges related to the development and implementation of the different types of projects and the particular needs of sponsors, lenders, suppliers and offtakers, Christian is able to provide a practical, commercial-driven and holistic approach on his advice to the clients.

Relevant Experience

  • Represented a consortium of lenders in the financing of the development, construction and operation of a desalination plant and water supply system with an initial capacity of 840 l/s (and a potential expansion of up to 1,956 l/d) to be located in Northern Chile.
  • Mandated lead arrangers and lenders on the financing of the Huemul Portfolio, consisting of five renewables projects, including the construction and operation of two solar power plants and three wind farms, with a total installed capacity of 630 MW in Chile (“Renewable Energy Financing of the Year” (2021) by Latin Finance; “Renewables Deal of the Year” (2020) by Proximo)
  • Represented an investment fund on its acquisition of a developer, with multiple wind projects across the US.
  • Represented the lenders on a series of financing of a developer’s portfolios of wind and solar PV projects with an aggregate installed capacity of more than 1.3GW in Chile.
  • Represented the lenders on the approximately $890 million senior secured financing related to the development, construction, operation and maintenance of the Los Ramones II Sur gas transportation system (“Americas Oil and Gas Deal of the Year” (2014) by Project Finance International).
  • Represented the borrowers and sponsors on the $235 (approximate) million financing for the development, construction and operation of two solar photovoltaic projects in Mexico – Solem I, a 150 MWac solar photovoltaic project and Solem II, a 140MWac solar photovoltaic project (“Latin America Solar Deal of the Year” (2017) by IJGlobal).
  • Represented the developer on the $2.2 billion El Morro gold/copper mine in Chile.
  • Represented the developer of an LNG import terminal and 650 MW combined cycle gas-fired power plant in Panama.
