Professional Biography

Caroline K. Abbott is a corporate and regulatory health care attorney in Greenberg Traurig’s Washington, D.C. office. She counsels clients on a variety of complex transactional, corporate governance, regulatory, compliance, and operations matters. Her clients include a variety of private equity sponsors, strategic buyers, pharmaceutical, medical device, and life sciences companies, physician and provider groups, behavioral health providers, hospitals and health systems, insurers and health care management organizations, clinical laboratories, telehealth providers, and other health care stakeholders.

In connection with complex transactional matters, compliance investigations, and other matters, Caroline reviews and analyzes contracts and other health care agreements and conducts due diligence. She also routinely provides regulatory and compliance counseling to health care clients on matters related to federal and state regulatory matters, including change of ownership rules, corporate practice of medicine restrictions, federal and state fraud and abuse laws including Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, and state fee-splitting, anti-kickback, and self-referral laws, health facility licensure and certification, provider licensure and scope of practice restrictions, Medicare and Medicaid enrollment, participation, and reimbursement, FDA regulation of the food and beverage, drug, medical device, cosmetics, and dietary supplement industries, and other transactional structuring and investment-related regulatory risks.
