Carlos G. Colόn-Machargo

Professional Biography

Carlos Colon-Machargo is a member of Ogletree Deakins’ Cross-Border Practice Group, which provides worldwide labor and employment law advice and solutions to clients around the globe. He is based in the Atlanta office.

Carlos’ experience includes providing legal advice to employers on all aspects of personnel actions, including hiring, background checks, discipline, termination, retaliation, compliance with federal and state discrimination laws, wage and hour and leave laws, as well as addressing general questions regarding labor and employment law, compensation, and benefits issues. He also represents clients in federal and state courts and administrative agencies, on labor and employment investigations and litigation. Carlos advises clients on the full gamut of employment agreements, employee handbooks, and workplace policies.

As a native Spanish speaker, he serves as a member of the firm’s Global Solutions’ Task Force providing content and guidance on employment-related issues affecting clients with operations in Latin America.

Before joining Ogletree Deakins, Carlos was in private practice engaged on employment, business law and tax matters in Puerto Rico, Florida, Georgia and Washington DC. Carlos began his legal career at Region 29 of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) in Brooklyn, New York. He obtained an LL.M. in Labor and Employment Law from the Georgetown University Law Center and is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed in Florida.
