Ariela is Counsel in Wiggin and Dana’s Litigation Department, where she focuses her practice on appellate and complex civil litigation.
Ariela has successfully represented clients in the federal courts of appeal and in state supreme and intermediate appellate courts. She has been a key member of the team handling COVID-19 business interruption insurance litigation appeals and has consistently obtained favorable coverage decisions in courts across the country, including a pivotal victory in the Connecticut Supreme Court. Among other recent successes, Ariela was also a key member of teams that secured a favorable California appellate decision for a construction company facing significant tort liability; obtained the dismissal of complex defamation claims against a publishing company in Connecticut state court; and persuaded the U.S. Supreme Court to deny cert in a closely-watched appeal involving medical marijuana.
Before joining Wiggin and Dana, Ariela was a law clerk to the Honorable John M. Walker Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, the Honorable William J. Nardini of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the Honorable Paul A. Engelmayer of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
Ariela received her J.D. from Yale Law School, where she was an Articles & Essays Editor of The Yale Law Journal, a Senior Editor of The Yale Journal of International Law, and an Editor of The Yale Human Rights and Development Law Journal. She received her B.A. in English from Dartmouth College, summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa.
