Alain M. R'bibo

Professional Biography

Alain R'bibo is a partner in the Century City office. Since joining Allen Matkins in 2006, he has served in several leadership positions including Co-Chair of the Century City Real Estate Department. He currently serves on the firm's Management Committee. 

For more than 20 years, Alain has acted as a strategic advisor to many of the leading real estate firms in the country on some of their most significant transactions. Representations include Blackstone, Hines, Tishman Speyer, Preylock, Tesla, Karney Management, Sumitomo Life, Lubert-Adler, The Ratkovich Company, Kilroy, Silverstein, DRA Advisors, River Oaks Properties, The Moinian Group, Woodridge Capital, Equity Office Properties, Concord Capital Partners, TIAA-CREF, Brookfield, CBRE Global Investors, Westfield, and JPMorgan. 

In recent years, Alain has developed an expertise in EV related real estate projects, having represented many leading EV firms in their real estate and infrastructure transactions across the country.

As a business advisor, Alain is regularly called upon to provide insights on real estate market trends and has guided clients through various market cycles and understands how to mitigate risk in the face of economic fluctuations. Clients turn to Alain for advice on complex purchase and sale, leasing, joint venture and related transactions, and the operations and management of portfolios across the country. Guidance includes structuring economic and non-economic terms; drafting and negotiating letters of intent, purchase agreements, and ancillary agreements; and conducting all aspects of due diligence. Leasing experience includes ground leases, sale-leaseback, complex build-to-suit, and retail franchise leases.

Alain is a frequent lecturer at Southern California law schools and business schools and has been cited by national trade and business publications.

Before joining Allen Matkins, Alain began his career as a bankruptcy restructuring attorney where he gained commercial litigation and restructuring experience. His litigation experience aids in his ability to anticipate and mitigate potential risks as a transactional attorney. Alain was also extensively involved in the airline bankruptcy cases of the early and mid 2000s, in particular, cases involving the recharacterization of airport facility subleases as disguised financing vehicles.

Committed to philanthropic work, Alain serves on the Board of Directors and as a volunteer for several not-for-profit organizations including Maor Academy (which serves Jewish children with special needs) and his alma mater, Valley Torah High School. He is a former martial arts competitor (American Kenpo) and enjoys hiking, basketball, and snowboarding. A first generation American with roots in Marrakech, Morocco, Alain is fluent in French and conversant in Hebrew and Spanish. He resides in the San Fernando Valley with his wife and four children.
