Turning Pollutants into Electricity
by: Bruce Goodman of Varnum LLP  -
Sunday, August 26, 2012

Environmental regulations often require the oxidation of waste volatile organic compounds (VOCs)in natural gas-fired control devices. Climate Technologies Corp of Farmington Hills has engineered a combined heat and power system to accomplish emission reductions plus electric generation. Utilizing an industrial gas turbine designed for a range of gaseous and liquid fuels, 560 KW of electricity is generated while VOCs are oxidized along with the primary natural gas fuel. The system is now commercially available for distributed energy operations.
