A-Rod Drops Litigation Challenging Season-Long Suspension
Sunday, February 9, 2014

This past Friday Alex Rodriguez withdrew his lawsuits against Major League Baseball and the players’ union over his 2014 season-long suspension — the longest in MLB history for performance-enhancing drugs — thereby accepting the award of an arbitrator under the parties’ collective bargaining agreement.  MLB and the union issued statements welcoming the development.

The New York Times noted that “legal experts looked dimly on the suits’ prospects” [Saturday, Feb. 8, Sec. D, "Sports Saturday," at p. D2]. (See our post, A-Rod: A Tough Road to Hoe in Contesting Arbitrator’s Suspension).
