It's Almost Law: US Senate Passes Pallone-Thune Traced Act!

It's Almost Law: US Senate Passes Pallone-Thune Traced Act!
Thursday, December 19, 2019

All we need now is for President Trump to sign the bill and its official.

The US Senate today passed the Pallone-Thune TRACED Act, S.151. The Senate acted by unanimous consent without a roll call vote. The US House of Representatives previously approved the bill by a 417-3 vote earlier this month. The bill now moves on to President Trump for his likely signature.

Congressman Frank Pallone (D-NJ) and other leaders of the efforts in the House of Representatives hailed the Senate’s action, noting, “We’re delighted the Senate acted quickly to pass this legislation to shutdown illegal robocalls. We’re working hard to help the American people get real relief from these relentless and illegal calls. We look forward to the President signing this overwhelmingly bipartisan legislation into law very soon.”

TCPAWorld had previously provided a detailed summary of the provisions of the legislation, which can be found here. As noted therein, once signed, the law will trigger various implementing activities, primarily at the Federal Communications Commission, which TCPAWorld will closely monitor.
