The Indiana Chamber of Commerce and Indiana House Republican leaders reiterated Friday that making Indiana the 23rd Right to Work State is their number one legislative target in the upcoming legislative session. Indiana House Speaker Brian Bosma, Rep. Jerry Torr, and Chamber President Kevin Brinegar speaking on a Chamber of Commerce policy call all predicted a contentious battle over the Right to Work legislation and they urged Hoosier business leaders to speak up in support of the act. Bosma said that Indiana is "uniquely positioned" this year to pass the legislation and cited recent polls that say that 65 percent of Hoosiers support freedom of choice for workers in deciding whether they must become members of labor unions.
Speaker Bosma's explanation of Right to Work has been expressed in editorial columns that have been published around the state. The Indiana Chamber has also created a website dedicated to explaining and advocating for the bill.
