The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) failed to timely finalize product labeling of dicamba herbicides for use on Roundup-ready (RR2X) soybeans, leaving farmers unable to make use of the herbicide this growing season. The EPA recently proposed a draft label for use of the herbicide on soybeans, but it is not expected to be finalized until late summer or fall of this year.

Farmers had until May 31 to comment on the EPA's proposed dicamba formulation label. The American Soybean Association (ASA) in particular criticized the draft's prohibition on tank mixing as well as the 110-foot perimeter buffer requirement. If the label is finalized by the EPA as projected, farmers may be able to utilize the dicamba herbicide in next year's growing season.
