Change in FDA Registration Requirement Postponed

Change in FDA Registration Requirement Postponed
Friday, October 5, 2012

The Food Safety Modernization Act has imposed new registration requirements on the food industry.  These new requirements affect all food facilities – including those which had previously registered with the FDA – that export into or distribute food, including pet food and animal feed, in the United States.  This new re-registration requirement was set, under FSMA, to begin on October 1, 2012; however, last week FDA announced that the registration portal will not be available on time and that FDA would, therefore, not be accepting registration renewals until a later date.
