On August 08, 2024, the Federal Communications Commission (“FCC”) issued a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (“NPRM”) addressing the use of AI-generated calls, with potentially massive implications for the telecommunications industry.
Following the FCC’s critical move, Responsible Enterprises Against Consumer Harassment (R.E.A.C.H.) was one of the first organizations to react, voting unanimously to set standards for industry participants leveraging AI in either outbound or inbound communications. R.E.A.C.H. is also seeking input from industry participants as its Technology Committee has been tasked with creating a holistic standard and policy document to submit to the FCC.
The NPRM was published in the Federal Register on September 10, 2024, which means the clock is now ticking. Comments on the NPRM are due within 30 days, i.e., by October 10, 2024. Reply comments are due on October 25, 2024.
If you’re impacted by the FCC’s proposed rules and want to be part of the decision-making process, be sure to join R.E.A.C.H. to make your voice heard!
