
Shalini Nangia Named President of the Washtenaw County Bar Association

Varnum partner Shalini Nangia has been named President of the Washtenaw County Bar Association (WCBA).
The WCBA, established in 1894, is a professional organization representing over 650 legal professionals. The organization promotes legal excellence, diversity, and access to justice through education, outreach, and a lawyer referral service.
Nangia is a member of Varnum’s Family Law Practice Team, where she focuses on guiding clients through challenging times with efficiency and compassion. She specializes in family law litigation, including high-income and high-asset divorces, collaborative divorces, custody and parenting time, child support, paternity, property division, retirement benefits, and post-judgment matters. She is also trained in collaborative divorce, a mediator and a regular presenter for the Institute for Continuing Legal Education (ICLE).
Beyond her legal practice, Nangia has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and is the Chair of Varnum’s DEI Committee. Additionally, she is a member of the State Bar of Michigan Family Law Section, Collaborative Practice of Michigan, and the Wayne County Family Law Bar Association. She also contributes as a pro bono mediator for the Dispute Resolution Center of Washtenaw County and is a member of the South Asian Bar Association and the Florida Bar.
Nangia has been recognized for her work, earning a place in the 2025 edition of Best Lawyers in America® for Family Law. She was also honored with the National Law Review’s Thought Leader Award for Family Law in 2020.
