INVESTIGATION ALERT: Levi & Korsinsky, LLP Announces Investigation of the Hertz Corporation Data Breach
Press Release Date 05-02-2025
NEW YORK CITY, NY / ACCESS Newswire / May 2, 2025 / The Hertz Corporation recently disclosed that it suffered a data breach that compromised the sensitive personal and protected health data of individuals. This data breach has led to concerns over the security of sensitive personal and protected health information entrusted to Hertz.
WHAT'S THIS ABOUT?
On February 10, 2025, Hertz confirmed that personal information belonging to individuals associated with Hertz Rental Car, Dollar, and Thrifty brands was compromised due to a security incident involving their vendor, Cleo Communications US, LLC ("Cleo"). Cleo provides a file transfer platform used by Hertz. An unauthorized third party exploited zero-day vulnerabilities within Cleo's platform during two separate incidents in October 2024 and December 2024. Hertz immediately began analyzing the impacted data to determine the scope of the event and identify affected individuals. The data analysis was completed on April 2, 2025.
Upon information and belief, the following types of sensitive personal and protected health information may have been compromised: name, contact information, date of birth, driver's license information, credit card information, Social Security number, government identification numbers, passport information, and Medicare or Medicaid ID associated with workers' compensation claims. On April 11, 2025, Hertz filed a notice with Maine Attorney General's office and started sending out notice letters to the affected individuals. Compensation may be available for those individuals who received notice that their personal information was compromised.
WHY YOU MAY BE ENTITLED TO COMPENSATION?
