WHAT'S THIS ABOUT?
On April 29, 2025, Gardner Orthopedics LLC became aware of a security incident on its network involving a ransomware attack by the threat actor known as Inc Ransom. Upon detection, Gardner Orthopedics LLC launched an investigation with the assistance of third-party cybersecurity experts to determine the nature and scope of the incident. The investigation determined that an unauthorized third party gained access to sensitive patient information
On May 15, 2025, the cybercriminal group Inc Ransom posted about the breach on their dark web portal claiming to have obtained sensitive organizational data. Gardner Orthopedics LLC conducted a comprehensive review of the impacted data to determine what information was compromised and identified affected individuals. The review determined that the compromised information included both personally identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI) of Gardner Orthopedics' patients.
Although the exact type of information compromised is not yet publicly disclosed, the impacted files may include names, Social Security Numbers, addresses, dates of birth, medical records, treatment information, and health insurance information.
On June 24, 2025, Gardner Orthopedics LLC filed a notice with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and started sending out notice letters to the impacted individuals. Compensation may be available for those individuals who receive notice that their sensitive personal information was compromised.
